Campos South Yarra: Coffee Perfection in Melbourne

For even those who consider themselves coffee beginners (I mean I certainly do), they would still know of Campos Coffee. From their beginnings in Newtown in 2002 to their current foothold in the Australian coffee scene, they have much to their history. Even their coffee beans are now a staple in the aisles of supermarkets (and their superior beans were my first beans that I bought for my home setup!).

Their South Yarra flagship is down the road from where Tomoyo and I stay, so it was only time before we made our trek here.

The staff were super, super friendly (even at 7am), and we had both a wonderful coffee. What really caught me by surprise though was how good the toasted croissant was! Even now, I remember how delicious it was!

The café was a great place to stop for a chat and even for a little bit of work before heading to the offices.

From now on, I will continue as a big advocate for going back on mornings when Tomoyo and I feel like stepping outside for a brew.

2002にシドニーのニュータウンに創設されたキャンパスコーヒーは20年の歴史を持ち、オーストラリアで初めてのスペシャルティのコーヒー焙煎業者の一つで国内の何百ものカフェにコーヒー豆を供給している。

サウスヤラののキャンパス提供しているペイストリーはAM Bakehouseから仕入れているもので、グルテンフリーやヴィーガンのものも置いてある。

デザイン会社Guru Projectsによる内装は、ヨーロッパの伝統的なエスプレッソ・バーかのような温かみのある色調でまとめられている。壁には地元アーティストの作品が飾らている。数ヶ月ごとに作品が入れ替わるらしい。

アーモンドラテとクロワッサンをオーダー。

クロワッサンはトーストしますか？バターやジャムは入りますか？

と聞いてもらえるので思わずトースト、バタージャムのフルセットでお願いする。

まずはアーモンドラテ。美しいラテアート、ラテは口に入れると甘みが広がる。

チェーンだからといって侮れないのがメルボルン。とても美味しい。

続いてクロワッサンが運ばれてくる。

プレスして温められたクロワッサンの香りが店内に広がる。

クロワッサンにバターとジャムをつけるなんてなんともギルティな食べ物。

トーストされたクロワッサン、サクサク感にバターの風味がたまらない。

落ち着いた雰囲気でコーヒーを楽しみたい方におすすめ。
