Pique Nique Armadale

I went for a roulette-eque approach for choosing this morning's café. After spinning the wheel on a number of saved places, Pique Nique in Armadale came up trumps for our morning journey!

Just south of Melbourne's High Street and next to Union Street Gardens, Pique Nique is a cute cafe on a quiet suburban corner of Armadale.

They offer an open-facing coffee stand for customers on the go, while their dine-in options include an indoor setting and an outdoor setting (potentially two when they open the courtyard, although it was closed on this occasion!).

Tomoyo and I were just in to visit Armadale, so just went for some coffees and banana bread, but the vibe was very homely. While we were there, a few families came through to dine in and chat (which makes sense given its position and proximity to a family-friendly park).

We also snacked on a toasted banana bread while there, but their Instagram will give you a better look at their menu options.

風通しの良いこのカフェ。一軒家を改装した内装で、暖炉のあとが残っている。

店内に座ることにした。バックヤードとテラスもあるため天気によって場所を変えるのも良さそう。

今回オーダーしたのはマキアートとバナナブレッド。

マキアートはシングルショットのエスプレッソにティースプーンのフォームミルクを乗せたもの。

マキアートは酸味と苦味が強くて、ガツンと刺激をくれた。

バナナブレッドはオーストラリア風でトーストされてバターと共に運ばれてくる。

正直なところバナナブレッドはもう少し美味しくできるかもしれないと思った。

窓からはテイクアウトでコーヒーやペイストリーも買えるのでテイクアウトしてピクニックに持っていくのもありだ。
